Ingredients
½ cup (120g) unsalted butter, softened
½ cup (100g) light brown sugar, packed
¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1⅓ cups (160g) all-purpose flour
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup (150g) semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks

6 butter croissants (store-bought or homemade, preferably day-old for easier slicing)
1 egg + 1 tbsp water, for optional egg wash (for a golden crust)

Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
Add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks.
Cover and refrigerate the cookie dough for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight) to help it firm up and prevent spreading during baking.
